Dart Components Guide: Perfect Assembly
Assembling your darts with the right components allows you to get a set perfectly suited to your playing style. Discover how to combine barrels, tips, shafts and flights.
The 4 Essential Components
A dart consists of the barrel, tip, shaft and flight. Each component influences balance, trajectory and stability. The ideal assembly results from trials and adjustments according to your preferences.
Harmony and Balance
A heavy barrel requires short shafts and wide flights to compensate. A light barrel accommodates long shafts and slim flights. Experiment with different combinations by changing one component at a time to identify the impact of each modification.
Brands and Compatibility
Most components use standard threads ensuring compatibility between brands. Beware of proprietary systems (Fit Flight, L-shaft) that require their own shafts. Build a stock of spare components to quickly replace worn parts.

With 60 components in our catalog (60 barrels, 0 tips, 0 shafts, 0 flights), the combinations are endless. Start with the barrel — it determines weight and balance. Add tip, shaft and flights. Fine-tune by swapping one component at a time.
Most of the 60 components in our catalog use the 2BA thread standard, ensuring broad compatibility across 49 brands. However, some systems are proprietary: L-Style requires L-shafts, Fit Flight uses its own shaft system.
Flights: every 1-4 weeks (most fragile). Soft tips: after breakage. Shafts: every few months or when bent/cracked. Barrels: rarely need replacement (years). Steel tips: sharpen regularly, replace when damaged. Always carry spare flights and tips in your dart case.
