Dart Barrel Buying Guide
The barrel is the most important element of your dart. It determines balance, accuracy and playing comfort. Discover how to choose the ideal barrel for your style.
Materials and Weight
Professional barrels are mainly made of tungsten (80% to 97%), offering an excellent density/volume ratio. Weight ranges from 18g to 26g for steel tip, and 14g to 20g for soft tip. Test different weights to find the one that matches your throwing strength.
Shapes and Textures
Barrels come in several profiles: straight, torpedo, bomb. The texture (grip) can be smooth, micro-grip, with rings or grooves. The choice depends on your grip and release point. Beginners often prefer pronounced grips.
Reference Brands
Target, Harrows, Winmau, Red Dragon and Unicorn dominate the market with complete ranges. Japanese brands like DMC and TRiNiDAD offer innovative designs highly valued by experienced players.

Among our 60 barrels in the catalog, beginners should start with 22-24g models for steel tip, or 16-18g for soft tip. A medium weight offers good control without tiring the arm. Compare specs and reviews to find your ideal weight.
Tungsten (wolfram) is the professional standard — its high density allows slim barrels that group tighter. 80% tungsten suits most players, 90%+ is for advanced players. Brass is cheaper and ideal for beginners, but barrels are thicker. Filter by material in our catalog of 60 barrels.
Grip depends on your throwing style. Aggressive grips (shark fin, deep rings) suit players who grip firmly. Smooth or micro-grip barrels work for players with a light touch. Check reviews from our 14 members for real-world feedback.
