My analysis

My review of the Bull's Focus 2 Plus

Bull's is a German brand firmly established in Central Europe, though it remains less known to the general public than British heavyweights like Winmau, Unicorn or Target. The Focus 2 Plus pleasantly surprised me: it's a serious dartboard, built for club or competition use, with a finish quality that has nothing to envy from its British competitors.

It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but rather to do the basics right: quality African sisal, a fine spider, tight double and triple segments. If you want to step outside the usual brands without sacrificing technical seriousness, this is worth considering.

My on-the-oche test of the Bull's Focus 2 Plus

The fine, staple-free extra-thin spider is the most immediately noticeable strength when throwing: less metal wire on the surface means fewer parasitic bounce-outs around the segment junctions. The 8mm double and triple segments offer decent margin for aiming at high-value zones, without being excessively wide either.

The bounce-out resistance score of 8/10 confirms this impression in practice: the board absorbs impacts well, even under heavy use, though it doesn't quite reach the level of the very best premium references on the market.

Durability of the Bull's Focus 2 Plus

With a durability score of 8/10, the sisal used holds up well under regular use, typical of a club or frequent competitive setting. It's not the most durable board we've tested, but it sits comfortably in a reliable range for serious use over several months, if not years, depending on how often it's played.

Installation and mounting the dartboard

With its standard 17.9" (45.5cm) diameter, the Bull's Focus 2 Plus mounts without any hassle on any standard-compliant surface or cabinet. It meets standard tournament dimensions, so it satisfies the dimensional and regulatory requirements if you plan to use it in official competition or in preparation for one.

Price and value for money

It's generally found between €45 and €50 (observed at retailers). At this price point, the value for money is solid: you get a board that meets standard tournament dimensions, well finished, with a robust build, at a price comparable to, or even lower than, some equivalent British references.

Verdict: should you buy the Bull's Focus 2 Plus?

Yes, if you're looking for a reliable board for club or competition use and you're open to stepping outside the dominant British brands. The Focus 2 Plus combines a polished finish (its real strength at 9/10), robust construction and compliance with standard tournament dimensions, all at a reasonable price range.

It's aimed mainly at regular or club players who want a safe bet without necessarily following the most hyped brands. For an occasional beginner, this level of quality is still relevant but perhaps a bit beyond strict necessity.

Criteria breakdown

Durability

The sisal on the Focus 2 Plus holds up well under regular club or competition use. It's not the most durable board on the market, but it remains reliable over several months of intensive play. A solid compromise for frequent players not chasing the absolute top tier.

Bounce-out

The fine, staple-free extra-thin spider effectively limits parasitic bounce-outs around the segment junctions. Combined with the 8mm double and triple segments, it delivers stable, predictable behaviour when throwing. A confirmed strength on the oche.

Finish

This is the undisputed strong point of this board: the finish is particularly polished, from the spider wire to the segments. This level of detail is noticeable both visually and to the touch. A real selling point against the dominant British brands.

Visual clarity

Colours and zone contrast remain clear and comfortable during extended sessions. Nothing groundbreaking, but a clean rendering without excessive visual fatigue. Consistent with the board's competition positioning.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Particularly polished finish, the standout feature of the range
  • Fine staple-free extra-thin spider that limits parasitic bounce-outs
  • Well-calibrated 8mm double and triple segments for competition play
  • Meets standard tournament dimensions
  • A credible alternative to dominant British brands for diversifying your setup

Cons

  • Decent durability but not the most long-lasting in the premium segment
  • Still relatively unknown to the general public outside Central Europe
