My opinion on the Shot Bandit

The Shot Bandit is one of Shot's mid-range dartboards, from a brand I mostly know for its high-end darts. Here, the register is more affordable: decent sisal, a thin knife-wire spider (~0.8mm) marketed by Shot as anti-bounce, and a chamfered stainless-steel bullseye. These aren't features devoid of technology, but the board as a whole remains non-certified for competition.

Let's be honest from the start: if you're looking for a board that carries Shot's full reputation, this isn't its most refined model. The Bandit does the job for regular, no-frills use, with two points marketed as technical (thin knife-wire and chamfered stainless bullseye).

My test of the Shot Bandit on the oche

On the oche, the thin knife-wire does its job: bounce resistance is fine, though not on par with premium razor boards. You still feel some bounce-outs when you hit the wires squarely, without it being a dealbreaker. For occasional players as well as more regular use, it stays pleasant to play, even if the most refined competition boards keep an edge on this point.

Visual comfort is decent without standing out: colors and zones remain readable, which at least helps during the first few games.

Durability of the Shot Bandit

The sisal used is decent without being premium: with regular play, dart holes widen a bit faster than on high-end sisal. The thin knife-wire, on the other hand, limits marked wear around the wires compared to a staple spider. This is a board built for regular use, a notch below daily intensive practice.

Setting up and mounting the board

Nothing special to note here: the 18" diameter is standard, so the board mounts on any classic bracket. No specific installation constraints.

Price and value for money

Generally between €60 and €90 depending on the seller (€60 on 180darts.nl, up to €90 on Amazon.be), the Shot Bandit sits in the mid-range, not at an entry-level price point. At this level, the value for money is fair without being exceptional: you're paying notably for the thin knife-wire and the chamfered stainless bullseye, but without reaching the level of the most refined competition boards.

Yes, if you're looking for a mid-range board for regular use at home, with fair bounce resistance and a few technical touches (thin knife-wire, chamfered stainless bullseye).
