Our analysis
The Samurai 4 is the current flagship of the range, and the only one to truly justify the premium label. Its most concrete difference is the sisal: vein-free, highly compacted Madagascan sisal, presented as superior in self-healing to the African sisal of the other Samurai, which translates into the best durability and perceived quality in the series. The ultra-thin staple-free knife wire, available in a white or graphite spider, is also a strong visual differentiator, and adjustable stabilisers are included for clean mounting. It is the most expensive and most recent model, and its user ratings (4.8/5 at a major retailer) back up the impression. The only point to note honestly: WDF approval is not documented for this model, so for certified competition the Samurai II remains the reference. For everything else (durability, finish, home playing enjoyment), the Samurai 4 is the best choice in the range.
